From eradication of micronutrients deficiency diseases such as rickets, scurvy, and goiter, to prevention of child stunting, food fortification is considered one of the top priority solutions to the big challenge of nutritional deficiency among large segments of world’s population. For the private sector, there is a business case for food fortification: products with high nutritional content can enhance brand value, increase profitability as market expands, and contribute to development of healthy and productive labor force in low income communities.
